You’ve no-doubt heard of the Kokoda track
Let me tell of another that heads outback
There’s grain and oil to move
But can’t unless it improves
To bring produce for ks on Kenworth and Mack.
Loaded b-doubles all in the main
Expected to utilise just one wobbly lane,
Whilst thousands want change
Up and down the range
The gov’ments are still playing the blame game.
These truckies pay huge rego bills
The mines even higher still.
The increase in wealth
Should help pay for our health
More coffee for Drs. of Warrego kill.
There’s a recession now they say,
After ten big years, how can we pay
Who’s the responsible man
Who should be holding the can
Should a mistake befall on our way.
Doesn’t the gov. have a duty of care
If the road is in such a state of repair.
But the good country folk
All think it’s a joke,
Including our hard working mayors.
As I’ve said, we all want it fixed it’s true
The nomads, main roads, police and RACQ.
But where is the minister,
It seems a bit sinister,
It’s the gerrymander and her crew.
No one denies there’s the fatal four
And responsibilities we have certainly soar
Once behind that wheel
The adrenaline we feel
Have some brains and keep the foot from the floor.
Look, we all make our mistakes
The marks on our licence aren’t fakes
But if the road is to blame
Then there’s someone to shame
By crikey, there’s so much at stake.
I guess that’s enough from this mushroom
We look forward to a new road soon
Even to find a solution
To this city’s pollution
So let’s again ask the Member for Groom.
